Wrinkle Relaxing - Botulinum toxin
Every time you laugh, smile or frown, wrinkles are created by the contractions in your delicate facial muscles. Over time, these contractions cause frown lines, crow's feet and laughter lines.
Botulinum Toxin works by blocking impulses from the nerves to the tiny facial muscles, temporarily relaxing them so that they don't contract. This softens the appearance of fine lines and the skin becomes more youthful looking. While the untreated muscles react in a
normal way, allowing facial expressions to be unaffected, the skin itself remains smooth and unwrinkled.
Our wrinkle treatment involves a tiny amount of Botulinum Toxin being injected with a very fine needle into several locations in the face. There is minimal or no discomfort. Treatment can be carried out immediately, as no patch testing is required. The treatment is usually completed in 10 to 15 minutes and you will be able to resume your daily life immediately after. The only negative signs of the
treatment may be a slight temporary redness, which can occur with any injection, and a very occasional bruise.
Are there any side effects?
The treatment can very rarely cause weakness of injected or nearby muscles, causing asymmetry of facial expression or drooping of the eyelids. The risk of any side effects depends upon the muscles injected. Botulinum Toxin is completely reversible, any side effects are temporary, lasting only days or weeks.
When will I see results and how long will the treatment last? The effects are usually apparent 3 to 4 days following treatment and
will last 3 to 4 months, when everything will return to pre-treatment condition.
